This is the fifth installment of. "Profiles in Stupidity" in which we highlight the dumbest politicians in America today.
Charles "Chuckie" Schumer is the senior United States Senator from New York. A Democrat, Schumer was first elected to the Senate in 1998. He was re-elected in 1998 and 2006.
He is the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate, behind Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin.
Senator Chuckie is one of the dumbest people to ever serve in our Congress. He may not be as dumb as Patty Murray or Sheila Jackson Lee, but he ranks somewhere in the top five. Here are a few examples:
On Nov 4, 2008. when asked if he is a supporter of telling radio stations what content they should have, Schumer used the fair and balanced line, claiming that critics of the Fairness Doctrine are being inconsistent.
Schumer appears to make the astonishing claim that if the government can regulate anything, it logically follows that it can regulate everything. Schumer is a dope, but he and his fellow Democrats are probably serious about their threat to drive talk radio off the air.
On Feb 10, 2009, after the Democrat supermajority in Congress passed President Obama's Stimulus Pork Bill. This is the bill that added $1.7 trillion to the National Debt without creating a single "shovel ready job." Senator Chuckie gloated about the partisan victory, saying:
Just two years later, on Jan 31, 2011, Chuck Schumer said everyone in Washington needs to compromise to fix the debt crisis. Which is the same crisis he helped create with all his pork spending:

“The very same people who don’t want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air. I am for that… But you can’t say government hands off in one area to a commercial enterprise but you are allowed to intervene in another. That’s not consistent.”

“You lost,” Sen. Schumer sneered. Besides, he taunted, the “American people really don’t care” about all those “little tiny, yes, porky amendments”
Just two years later, on Jan 31, 2011, Chuck Schumer said everyone in Washington needs to compromise to fix the debt crisis. Which is the same crisis he helped create with all his pork spending:
"We have three branches of government. We have a House, we have a Senate, and we have a president. All three of us are going to have to come together and give some."
Of course, Schumer forgot entirely about the judicial branch that equally shares power with the executive branch and the legislative branch. Schumer's office said it was a slip of the tongue and that he was referring to the three parties at the table.Source URL: http://extravagancedeplumes.blogspot.com/2011/04/profiles-in-stupidity-senator-chuckie.html
