Basketball player Chris Jackson became Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf in 1972, and boxing champ Mike Tyson converted to Islam while in prison in 1994.
But this really isn't a political statement for Woods. He has other, more sensible reasons for considering this switch in religions.
According to informed sources Woods said "It just seems like the trendy thing to do, with President Obama being a Muslim and all." Plus, there are additional benefits. "I heard I can have as many wives as I want" he said. "And then there's that whole 72 Virgins in Paradise thing.
